Our Story
Find out how 28 years on global broadcast sets led us to build a video production company for the brands, organisations and charities, and people shaping a better world.
Edis Media was born out of a shared conviction: the world’s most powerful storytelling shouldn't be reserved for cinema screens, it belongs to the organisations working to protect our planet and uplift our communities.
Having spent decades on fast-paced sets, managing global documentaries, and filming on feature film stages, we reached a turning point. We wanted our time, energy, and craft to serve a deeper purpose. So, we stepped away from traditional broadcast to bring cinematic discipline directly to the digital world.
As partners in work and life, we combine high-stakes technical production with deep empathy, helping charities, cultural organisations, and ethical brands tell purposeful stories that hold attention, build trust, and inspire real action.
From Prime-Time to Purpose
Meet the Founders
Jess
Managing Director / Producer
Hi, I’m Jess! My path to Edis Media was forged in the fast-paced, high-stakes world of prime-time television, investigative documentaries, and global live events.
Over the years, I’ve managed complex award-winning productions for the BBC, Channel 4, and major sports networks, doing everything from trekking through Simon Reeve’s South America to producing sensitive child protection features. Living in that world taught me my greatest superpower: bringing absolute calm to chaos.
During my career I received top level training from institutes such as BAFTA in sustainable production, diversity and inclusion both on and off screen, risk management and health and safety as well as workplace culture and safeguarding. I also attended YouTube Space Production & Strategy Training run by Google.
I specialise in human-centred storytelling. Whether I’m working with a nervous CEO or someone sharing a deeply personal life experience, I focus on creating a gentle, trauma-informed environment where everyday people feel safe, respected, and empowered to tell their truth.
As Managing Director and Creative Producer, I lead our operations to make sure every campaign is delivered on time, on budget, and with complete ethical and sustainable integrity. I take a collaborative, thoughtful approach to every project, immersing myself in who you are so we can craft visual narratives that move people and inspire lasting engagement.
When I’m not on set or obsessing over production schedules, you’ll usually find me:
Out for a long, muddy walk in the New Forest (ideally spotting bees and wildlife).
Deep in a rabbit hole of Greek mythology or working away on an embroidery hoop.
Watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race whilst cuddling my cats.
Soaking up as much chaotic, joyful quality time with my kids as humanly possible!
Mike
DOP / Technical Lead
Hey, I’m Mike! My life behind the lens started in the high-end world of major feature films, international documentaries, and television. As a member of the Guild of British Camera Technicians (GBCT), I’ve had the privilege of working behind the camera on blockbuster sets like House of the Dragon, The Crown, and Beetlejuice 2.
Whether we're shooting on classic 35mm film or cutting-edge digital cinema cameras, I love cracking the technical puzzle of every shoot, from complex studio lighting to multi-camera setups and post-production sound design. But for me, technology is just a tool to serve the story. I genuinely believe filmmaking is an art designed to connect with people’s souls, capture authenticity, and make audiences feel something real.
As our DOP and Technical Lead, I tackle every technical challenge that comes our way and constantly push to raise our visual standards. My goal is simple: ensure everyone we work with receives the exact same breathtaking production value, visual depth, and silver-screen polish usually reserved for Hollywood releases.
When I’m not on set, deep in an edit, or dissecting a camera setup, you’ll usually find me:
Playing my guitar (and inevitably having to learn the theme song to my kids' newest TV obsession).
Training for my next triathlon and dreading the swim section.
Checking in on my veg patch to see what’s sprouting and imagining I am Monty Don.
Annoying everyone by pausing the TV every 5 minutes to figure out how they lit a shot!
Our Culture and Values
Human Storytelling
We enforce a strict workflow with zero artificial intelligence in our pipeline, no generative visuals, no synthetic scripts, and no automated editing.
Every frame is captured, cut, and crafted by human hands. This guarantees absolute data security and IP protection for your executive likenesses and proprietary data while delivering genuine human empathy that an algorithm can never replicate.
Realistically, we just don’t think it’s quite there… yet.
Loving Our Planet
We don’t just care about the end product, we care about how we get there.
For us, sustainability is as important as creativity. After all, what’s the point of creating videos with long-term impact if we aren’t also thinking about the longevity of the planet we live on?
We integrate sustainable production practices into every shoot, ensuring your behind-the-scenes carbon footprint matches your public environmental values.
Good Old Honesty
We operate with clear, open communication from budget to final delivery.
We tell you what works, what doesn't, and set realistic expectations every step of the way.
No hiding behind fancy language. We’re up front about what’s doable, what’s changing, and what might get tricky, because we know that mutual trust matters more than pretending things are perfect.
Respect & Equality
We put people first, always.
Whether we’re filming with artists, scientists or families, everyone deserves to feel safe and valued.
We listen, we adapt and we make sure the final film reflects the heart of the story we were trusted to tell.
We strive to uplift underrepresented voices and ensure everyone on set feels truly seen, heard and represented.
Openess
We don’t have all the answers and we don’t pretend to. We’re here to listen, explore, and get excited about what we can learn and explore.
Creative ideas can come from anywhere, our clients, our crew, on a dog walk or halfway through a shoot when someone says, “Wait, what if we tried this instead?”
We love that.
Compassion
At the centre of every project? People.
We work with care, whether that means calming nerves, or reshuffling the schedule when life throws curve balls.
Being flexible and understanding makes the work stronger and makes the process better for everyone.
We prioritise empathy in every interaction, especially when filming sensitive stories or working with nervous contributors.
People & Planet over Profit
Storytelling isn't just something we do for our client, it’s a tool for community connection and empowerment. We don't believe in keeping our film and TV knowledge behind locked doors.
We’ve delivered tens of thousands of pounds in social value directly to local communities. Through hands-on youth training, public participation projects, and grassroots creative initiatives, we pass on our skills to the next generation of storytellers.
Whether we’re mentoring young people from underrepresented backgrounds, leading media workshops for local community groups, or empowering female founders through free networking and mentpring, we’re passionate about building real human connection.
For us, success isn't just about the visual polish that ends up on screen, it's about creating lasting, meaningful impact in the places where we film.
